new digs & fancy flat sheet curtains

things have been really chaotic around here -- but all for good cause. we bought a house earlier this month... and i'm sure i'll be posting tons of home-related projects along the way.

we 'window shopped' for about two years on har.com (so addictive!) before the aggressive hunt began in early 2013. j & i instantly fell in love with our little house and cannot wait to make make some memories in it with our family and friends. the unpacking and decorating have just begun...

for now, our windows have these lovely sheet & dip-dye table cloth curtains held up with push pins for privacy. i'm sure our neighbors are thrilled. sewing curtains will certainly be one of my first projects... it's time to dust off the sewing machine and bust out a bottle of pinot noir.

moving announcements - custom & ready to order

two of my friends have reached that point in their life where they're moving. moving into bigger spaces to accommodate news babies, or moving into their first house to call all their own. through these custom projects, i was inspired to create some read-to-order moving announcements that can be found at charm & fig.

the schaetzes are an awesome couple who just moved into their first home! jaime wanted something cheeky to pay homage to her new german last name. i was immediately inspired by all the pretty scandinavian designs out there. when she showed me a photo of her house, i had to include the cuteness of the orange chairs on their porch. (a front porch! ah, i will be visiting you guys soon to crack open a beer on that baby.)

the henke's had the sweetest little addition to their family last year and were feeling crammed in their current house. off the went to some new digs with more space for the boys to run around. ashley wanted me to incorporate some of my water color stuff but try to keep it masculine at the same time.

a clean, mid-century design for anyone who loved color. available now!

this one is carried some heavy vintage luggage & playful typography. order here.

want something more custom? email me at charmandfig(dot)gmail(dot)come.

we made this -- industrial coffee table with storage

really excited to share these photos because it's been a long project in the making. about four months ago i ordered a HUGE printer (to make my stationery) without really checking the specs. because we're lacking storage space jon and i decided to build a coffee table that could store the printer.

so here's our baby - we used an old door for the table top and vintage castor wheels as the base. everything else was new materials that we cut, sanded and stained on our tiny porch.

exterior storage for extra pillows & blankets.

table top complete with door handle hole. i want to find a little flower vase that will fit inside.

interior storage with my boat printer (or anything else we want to hide). the hinged door on this side is part of the original door used for the table top.

my wood shop gear.

jon assembling the botton on our porch.

we loved building this together and are already talking about our next project - side table for the bedroom!

sewing a stripe pillow

made a cheery striped pillow (ikea fabric). with a zipper! (had some serious issues with this zipper, so having this pillow complete is a victory).

pops of orange

eeek. it's been a long time. busy with wedding stuff (how long can i use that excuse?) and busy moving. and in that vein here are two new things: personal stationery & a super-soft velvety couch. both with pops of orange!

new colors in the kitchen

woke up and decided to do a kitchen makeover...here's before pictures i dug up (from summer, notice manpris) and i wasn't even trying to achieve the perception dark, cramped space that was our kitchen:

and after.. blue. bright & airy. didn't stage j.r.c. standing in the same position, he just happens to love cooking:

p.s. it's freezing here in houston so we went with ice blue to get us through those humid hot hot summers. hope y'all are staying warm.
