austin, texas BBQ rehearsal dinner invitations

lindsay & boris were getting married in austin, texas.  with strong ties to the city (hook 'em!) and lots of international wedding guests, a big barbecue dinner was a must!

the rehearsal dinner invitation was all about fun: a chalkboard-style invite with vintage typography reminiscent of rustic honky-tonks let their guests know it would be a laid-back affair with lots of texas style. i couldn't resist a buffalo-check envelope liner complete with a custom logo featuring their soon-to-be monogram, LKB

see the full suite below and a little peek at the happy couple's rehearsal dinner celebration.

holiday tags are here! gold + white foil print letterpress gift tags

white, gold, bright red & chartreuse are taking the lead for my color scheme this holiday season. i'm so excited to decorate our house for christmas -- i've always held back on buying christmas decorations because i didn't want to move a bunch of stuff from apartment to apartment, but now that we're more settled... i'm looking forward to buying cheerful ornaments this year.

to kick-off my eager beaver holiday spirit, i created these holiday gift tags...

a little bit luxe: gold foil on white gets me every time.

white on chartreuse adds an unexpected pop-of-color to your gift wrapping routine...

.. and bright, cheerful red with white for an old school look.

sets of 12 are available in the shop at charmandfig.etsy.com

modern groomsmen cards -- will you be my best man?

every now and then i get an email from a client asking if i make groomsman cards that don't have  mustaches on them! there's definitely saturation of mustache products at there.. and if you're looking for an alternative, there aren't a lot of masculine versions.

i came up with these simple groomsman cards that feature the wedding date on the front and the 'will you be my groomsman, best man, etc" question on the inside.

i imagine this groom to love adventure, whiskey and to never leave the house without his pocket knife. but if he doesn't do all or any of those requirements, that's okay. he's a total gentleman by asking his wedding party with good ol' fashioned stationery.

groomsman cards are available in the shop as single cards & sets of three.

modern baby shower - pink, poppy & turquiose

ohhh i love me some baby girls, baby girl. i pretty much got free reign on the project, with guidelines to use turquoise, poppy & pink (a fab color combo, if you ask me) and to make it kinda funky and girly.

it's been extra special because i've gotten to know the mom-to-be a lot better throughout her pregnancy and i'm anxiously awaiting her arrival! she's got some pretty awesome parents.

.. and just a side note - this shower was amazing. my friend andie threw it and made it EVERYTHING a couples shower should be. there was football for guys, crafts for gals (a onesie-making table), amazing cocktails, enough food to feed an army. and of course, i didn't take any pics at the actual shower because i was having too much fun. but this photo can give you an idea of the cuteness.

custom texas lake house wedding invitation suite

hooray! i can finally share this wedding invitation suite that i created for my brother-in-law and his lovely bride, chelsea. (get a peek of their beautiful ceremony at her blog). they got married at the lake house (a great place to get hitched!).

chelsea was the easiest person to work with. she knew she wanted the pieces to have a texas look with touches of moss green & eggplant purple incorporated through each piece.

thanks for letting me be apart of the process, chelsea!

moving announcements - custom & ready to order

two of my friends have reached that point in their life where they're moving. moving into bigger spaces to accommodate news babies, or moving into their first house to call all their own. through these custom projects, i was inspired to create some read-to-order moving announcements that can be found at charm & fig.

the schaetzes are an awesome couple who just moved into their first home! jaime wanted something cheeky to pay homage to her new german last name. i was immediately inspired by all the pretty scandinavian designs out there. when she showed me a photo of her house, i had to include the cuteness of the orange chairs on their porch. (a front porch! ah, i will be visiting you guys soon to crack open a beer on that baby.)

the henke's had the sweetest little addition to their family last year and were feeling crammed in their current house. off the went to some new digs with more space for the boys to run around. ashley wanted me to incorporate some of my water color stuff but try to keep it masculine at the same time.

a clean, mid-century design for anyone who loved color. available now!

this one is carried some heavy vintage luggage & playful typography. order here.

may expectations ( + april wrap-up)

eeeep. it's may. busy time for us as we're moving toward the end of the month, which means we'll be packing-up from here on out. we're not going far, just a few miles south of here.... so i'll be getting up close and personal with a familiar neighborhood.

i also expect to be outside playing a lot more this month-- we joined a kickball league, and while it seems to be centered around drinking, i'm actually looking forward to the exercise aspect of it (no joke). bathing suit season is coming up and i'll take what i can get.

here's what i was up to in april (and my fancy instagram photos too):

totes cray cray & ping pong ( look, i enjoy writing like a tween).

juicing.. this batch had a single beet in it. it's a pretty saturating vegetable & helps purify your blood among other things. plus, make's everything pink for a few days... :)
I'll do a full-on juice post soon!

mas sparkles por favor.

swoon for spoon. hey britt daniel.

margarita at tacos a go go in the heights! we'll miss this place when we move.

me & jon watching a friend play at a crawfish festival. sunny days.

mailing off my friends & family samples for charm & fig.

max was born!

me & max. just a couple hours old.

wahoo! sending off some etsy orders.. clearly, i need to purchase some stamps worth more than 45 cents.

my home town is celebrating the arrival of its minor league baseball team and brand new stadium. thanks to my dad for inviting us! we had a blast.

the stadium is gorgeous... it was definitely designed for families. every where you look, there's something for kids to enjoy... and pretty good beers on tap (saint arnold!).

we made this -- industrial coffee table with storage

really excited to share these photos because it's been a long project in the making. about four months ago i ordered a HUGE printer (to make my stationery) without really checking the specs. because we're lacking storage space jon and i decided to build a coffee table that could store the printer.

so here's our baby - we used an old door for the table top and vintage castor wheels as the base. everything else was new materials that we cut, sanded and stained on our tiny porch.

exterior storage for extra pillows & blankets.

table top complete with door handle hole. i want to find a little flower vase that will fit inside.

interior storage with my boat printer (or anything else we want to hide). the hinged door on this side is part of the original door used for the table top.

my wood shop gear.

jon assembling the botton on our porch.

we loved building this together and are already talking about our next project - side table for the bedroom!
